The Association was formally  launched with an INAUGURAL MEETING and OPEN FORUM on 7th October this year. All Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinators (registered on the Police Community Alert system) received an email invitation to attend the meeting.   Details of the Interim Committee and those standing for election to the posts of Association Chair, Deputy Chair, Secretary and Treasurer are given in our Who's Who.pdf.

The meeting was addressed and attended by Sue Mountstevens (Police and Crimes Commissioner) and Sarah Crew (Assistant Chief Constable), giving their full support and endorsement of the Association in its role to help promote and develop NW across Avon and Somerset. (Meeting Notes)

Please note that this is the first a number of public Open Forum meetings that we are planning across Avon and Somerset. We will let you when and where the next meetings will be held in the near future.

Police and Fire HQ in Portishead opened its doors to 7500 ticket holders on Sunday 1st October for an action-packed day.  This year they were celebrating the work of emergency services across Avon and Somerset.

The Association were invited to attend as an exhibitor - which we did!

The Association (ASNWA)  hosted a Co-ordinators' Masterclass with police workshops to provide practical knowledge that you can take home and use in your watch, including; NHW Skills – Be a Crimefighter;  Practical Crime Reduction; Tactical Communication - an Open Forum, along with exhibitors from organisations and companies with the latest in Crime Prevention products.

The Masterclass was well attended with 47 tickets going through the on-line Eventbrite system.

For those who could not attend on this occasion, here is Frank's presentation on 'Conflict De-escalation' and Ash's notes from the 'My Dream NW' sessions. We are looking to prepare video of the excellent presentation on security hardware - and bring this to you as soon as we can. Frank also adds - do have a look at the Bristol Mediation site if you need to facilitate resolving conflict.

The Masterclass was an all-day even, from 10.00am through to from 4.00pm and was extremely well received. To conclude and mark the event, each 'delegate' received their own personal certificate for completing the masterclass - that adds to their CV's and standing as Master Co-ordinators!

MEETING West Country CRIMESTOPPERS - 7th February 2018

The Chair and Deputy Chair of the ASNWA attended the West Country CrimeStoppers Committee Meeting held on 7th February 2018 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, Bristol. As an agenda item, we gave a talk and presentation on the development of the ASNWA with the Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

The meeting proved very successful and highlighted the need for Neighbourhood Watch and CrimeStoppers to develop much closer ties - as both organisations are actively engaged in crime prevention and have strong links with Avon and Somerset Constabulary.

EMERGENCY SERVICES OPEN DAY, Police & Fire HQ   -    Sunday 16th September 2018

We were invited and promoted Neighbourhood Watch and ASNWA at this year's Open Day.  This time we did something very different and totally dominated the marquee with 'live' model ballooning. Bespoke hats and pirate swords - a real attraction for children and parents, even the Police Cadets joined in.  We'll be doing this again next year - with more 'live' and 'interactive' attractions!
